The Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part 1

The goal of a Backgammon match is to move your chips around the Backgammon board and pull them from the game board quicker than your challenger who works just as hard to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a game of Backgammon needsrequires both strategy and fortune. How far you can shift your pieces is up to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and just how you shift your chips are determined by your overall gambling techniques. Players use a number of techniques in the different parts of a match depending on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Technique

The goal of the Running Game technique is to entice all your checkers into your inner board and get them off as quick as you can. This plan focuses on the pace of moving your checkers with absolutely no efforts to hit or stop your opponent’s checkers. The best scenario to use this strategy is when you think you might be able to move your own checkers quicker than the opposing player does: when 1) you have less checkers on the board; 2) all your checkers have past your competitor’s pieces; or 3) the opponent does not employ the hitting or blocking strategy.

The Blocking Game Plan

The main aim of the blocking strategy, by its name, is to block the competitor’s checkers, temporarily, not fretting about moving your pieces quickly. As soon as you have created the barrier for your competitor’s movement with a couple of chips, you can shift your other checkers rapidly from the game board. The player really should also have an apparent strategy when to withdraw and move the chips that you employed for blocking. The game gets intriguing when the opposition utilizes the same blocking technique.
